Starting Elementary School

Dear Primary Grade Parents,

The first day at the “big girl school” can be problematic for the most independent of nursery school graduates.

I will always remember the look on my daughter’s face when she arrived at school #1 in Fort Lee. “Sharon”, I said, “do you have butterflies in your stomach?” “No mommy,” she replied,” I have bats.”

As you leave your child at the new school, remind your youngster to have good manners, and assure him or her that the lady or man who is his or her teacher loves children and helping them learn.

Give your child a great big “bear hug” that will be felt for several hours. Assure your child that you or his or her caretaker will be there to pick him or her up at the end of the school day.

Let me know how your child experienced his or her first day in school.

Sincerely,

Ronnie B. Silver, Director
